Siffleur meaning whistling marmot, these mammals that are found living in crevices and on scree slopes and are very common along the Siffleur River. Sir James Hector of the Palliser Expedition in 1858 named Siffleur River. The Siffleur Falls was named in 1979 and the Siffleur Mountain 1912. There are three Siffleur Falls along the river and a swinging bridge to cross the North Saskatchewan River to reach them. The Siffleur Gorge is breath taking as it drops 15 meters through a very narrow channel. Walking trails are quite safe, however at points the rocks are very slippery so be extra careful !! |
