Located on the North Saskatchewan River just south-west of the Bighorn Indian Reservation and built in 1972, the dam waters stretch 32 km back along the Saskatchewan River Valley with a width of more that 3 km. This is not a recreation lake as it is very turbulent and windy but offers a spectacular view of the Kiska Lookout Tower. This is also where the infamous Sasquatch was sited in 1973.

There is an Information Center open during the summer months and you will not be disappointed with the view either upstream on Lake Abraham nor down stream towards Nordegg. Having canoed this river from the Dam to the Forestry Trunk road I can say it is a spectacular experience. Near the confluence of Kidd Creek into the North Saskatchewan River is the only place I found wild onions. There are remains of log buildings and corrals on the flats.
